Garrett`s Old Fashion Restaurant in Santa Barbara

Quick good food. Covid 19 seating on effect. Hence it looks like a long wait by line outside but it's quick 15 to 20 min when your 7 down on list.

I used to love this diner. I have been eating here twice a week for the last 20 years. I believe it was called the flying A when I first started going. But I guess all good things must end. The last time I went in was a sunday morning I sat at the counter as usual, After ordering I was just enjoying my coke and looked over at the grill area, and there was the cook with his finger up his nose to the palm of his hand, He then started touching the food without either washing his hands like he should have or even wiping his hands off. I got sick and left and have not gone back since. just want to warn people before they go there.

All of the food was very good, but the chicken fried steak was outstanding. Service was extremely quick and friendly. Comfortable feel to the restaurant with a home style menu. I will definitely take other family and friends here when they are in town.

Walked right in on a Tuesday morning and had a bacon omelette, added avocado (did not come with cheese FYI- okay by me), home fries, wheat toast and coffee and water (helpful because I jogged here from near the Mission). Attentive service, tasty food (simple and filling with good choice of condiments). As others have said, decent coffee. Only small quibble was that part of my avocado was a bit brown but that was easily avoided. In sum a very pleasant, friendly place to have breakfast and catch up on my newspaper. Thanks Garrett's!

I’m gonna write this review at the peril of people learning about my favorite Santa Barbara breakfast spot. My family loves this spot. We’ve been going there for years and we have never every received bad service or bad food. This diner does breakfast right. This cozy corner diner make the experience sooo comfortable. Stay away if you want to eat with a smile on your face.

Very good spot for breakfast

This is a very unassuming, traditional American eatery. But once you walk in, you will definitely feel at home. Great service by the crew. Breakfast was served very quickly. Satisfied tummy!

Omg delicious. Classic breakfast items, reasonably sized portions, and super fast service. I’ve always been a fan of Cajun Kitchen down the road but I’ll be coming here for my French toast from now on!

To be a great diner, you need to ace the basics. Good bottomless coffee? Check. Moist and fluffy pancakes? Yessir. Cheery waitresses? Affirmative. Heaping portions? Yup. Do yourself a favor and seek this place out. A classic.

Amazing breakfast that hit the spot. Did not leave us wanting anything else. We even came back a second time with a group of 20.

Super fast service on a busy Saturday morning!! I don't think we even waited 3 minutes! Really tasty breakfast food, and the service was great. Definitely a good place to eat.

They are only open for breakfast and brunch. I stopped in for the first time and I enjoyed it. I ordered the Monte Cristo and it was so much food that I had to save it.

Best diner in town!!!! This is the ONLY place my boyfriend and I go in the entire town for breakfast. We consider it a treat when we go and any time we are celebrating a birthday or other event, Garrett's is where we go. We also love taking friends who are visiting SB here. We love the waitresses too!! Most of them have been there a long time and they are so good at their jobs, give amazing service, are friendly & efficient so it truly adds to everything else that makes Garrett's the best diner in town. Also the best service by all staff including cooks, waitresses, busers & dishwashers!!!! Couldn't recommend Garrett's any higher than we already do!! You won't be disappointed!!

Delicious Food. My kids enjoyed the Garretts Egg sandwiches. I personally enjoyed the home potatoes.

Each of us felt it was one of the best breakfasts that we had eaten. Everything was fresh service was polite and very quick. my wife is a connoisseur of eggs Benedict and said it is one of the best eggs Benedict and Hollandaise sauce that she has ever had.

Quaint ambiance would make a good place for a breakfast date. Good portions and willing to make substitutions. My boyfriend is on their ketogenic diet and enjoys their omelets.

Food Was Really Good... Service was Amazing & Very Friendly

Perfect breakfast with a very attentive waitress who was funny too. Sadly we were at a work event where breakfast was provided most days, so only got to visit the once. If it wasnt for the work event, we would have chosen Garrett's everyday.

For a simple breakfast (what I like) you can't beat the mini-combo on their special board (seemingly permanently there). $6.50 for two eggs, two sausages (or bacon) and potatoes (or toast). Also they have good mild salsa (free), decent coffee, and are good about refilling your cup. Also they have a bar, so if you see people outside waiting for a seat, don't be dissuaded; poke your head in, there could be room at the bar (also there are a couple of tables outside). If there's no room at all, you can walk to Cajun Kitchen only two blocks away and get the same thing for more $. Also they're open every day except Christmas, and open early, but they close up about 2:30 PM.

Unfortunately I placed an order for delivery and received a message right away that my transaction did not go through, meanwhile it still charged my card. I did call the restaurant and they confirmed they hadn't received my order. I don't blame the restaurant but the system used for ordering I wouldn't trust. Please just go in.

Very fast service. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs Benedict and they were both delicious. Friendly staff, but I felt a bit rushed (which may be appealing to some!) if you're looking for sit down lunch/breakfast, but don't want to spend your whole day there, Garret's is the place for you.

Service with a smile, uncrowded and off the tourist row, this unassuming Cafe served up very good food. Not expecting gourmet offerings, the patty melt was very tasty and the fries & onion rings were excellent. Good value & a short neighborhood stroll to Mc Connels Ice Cream for a post-lunch treat.

My grandson never eats his entire plate! This Mickey Mouse pancake did the job 👍He was about it too 😊

"Mom and pop" eatery with tasty comfort food. Limited seating and always popular so go early and beat the rush.

Stopped by Garrett's today and NO ONE IS WEARING MASKS... THE OWNER ALLOWS CUSTOMERS TO COME IN WITH NO MASKS.. AND HE HIMSELF IS NOT FOLLOWING THE SB HEALTH DEPARTMENT GUIDE LINES.. when we question him he said he had a mask but it was around his neck. What good does it do there..

Garrett's is definitely a local favorite for good reason. It's good food like your Midwestern grandma used to make. My favorite is their blueberry pancakes and my hubby loves the Monte Cristo. Today I tried their Eggs California (eggs Benedict with avocado) with home fries and I kinda wish I stayed with my tried and true blueberry pancakes. It was good, but the hollandaise was a little too lemony and the potatoes tasted slightly fishy - maybe had cooked them near fish. But, the coffee is always diner delicious and plentiful. The staff is super friendly and they all seem happy to be there with each other.

This was the best breakfast I've had in years. Everything was cooked perfectly. The servers were friendly. I wish I lived closer
